This question is for SF Bay Area riders who ride on Canada Rd in San Mateo County.
What are the times that this road is closed on Sundays for bicycles?
From penbiped.org:
"Cañada Road is closed to cars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday from November to March, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday from April to October. The only exceptions are on winter holiday Sundays or during inclement weather. You can phone the Cañada Road hotline for an update on closures at 361-1785. "
Great resource, SteveE!! Here's the whole deal:
2. Cañada Road Bicycle Sundays, Belmont
Cañada Road Bicycle Sunday has become a ritualized event on the Peninsula. Every Sunday, the San Mateo County Parks Department closes off Cañada Road to cars and the four-mile stretch from Edgewood Road to Highway 92 become a parade of bicyclists of all shapes and sizes.
Cañada Road is a great ride even with cars, so it’s a stellar ride without cars. It provides great views of Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir and the eastern slopes of Montara Mountain, and just the right amount of mileage to give you that good feeling of having gotten some fresh air and exercise.

The route traverses Peninsula foothill country lined with grasslands and oaks, but its most striking feature is its views of Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir, the hidden paradise of the San Francisco watershed. Public access to this lovely body of water is strictly forbidden, but Cañada Road provides many long looks at it.
The road also leads past the Pulgas Water Temple. This Romanesque structure is where the San Francisco Water District celebrates the terminus of the Hetch Hetchy aqueduct, bringing water over 200 miles by canal from Yosemite.
Less than a half-mile from the Pulgas Water Temple is the Filoli Estate, a historic 1917 mansion and 16 acres of spectacular formal gardens. Tours are available by reservation on some Sundays. Phone Filoloi at 364-2880 for information.
Trail notes: There is no fee. For more information, contact San Mateo County Parks and Recreation at 363-4020 or 361-1785.
