Howdy....
Mrs. Hip and I will be in Santa Barbara on Saturday, June 30th for her niece's wedding at Fess Parker's place.
Now, considering the fact that we'll be at a beach party late into Friday night, there will be no riding in store for me Saturday.
However....
We'll have a few hours to kill late morning there before getting ready for the wedding.
I was just wondering if there happen to be any races in the area at that time...or...bike shops that are a must visit....waterfront cafe or restaurant to hit for a little pre-wedding lunch?
thanks....

Go across the street from the Fess Parker and head west to Stearn's Wharf. Longboards upstairs is a nice place for lunch. The Harbor Restaurant below is a more sit-down place for nicer seafood and stuff. Open Air Bikes is just a block away across from the Amtrak station.
If you go east, you'll hit East Beach with all the volleyball courts. Don't need to remind you of the sights we saw the last time the century ride went through there. The East Beach Grill has burgers & fries type food with a nice view of the beach.

You can rent a cruiser style bicycle at State and Cabrillo and goof off on the bike paths.
Walk inland on state stree under the freeway and turn left at the very first light. Time factory store.
Or, head further down the beach and hit up hazards. IMO they are one of the better shops around.

ping me if you wanna ride. you're welcome to one of the Marins (56 cm), bring your pedals, shoes, togs and bucket (unless you use eggbeaters, in which case you're covered). Medium or small head size and I've got helmutts.
8.30 am start is a mixed group (young-old,female-male) quasi-training ride from the Daily Grind, corner of Mission and De La Vina. Combination of some small climbs in Hope Ranch and then some pack work along Cathedral Oaks Rd. Always a fun bimble.
9:00 am start, also from the Daily Grind is the same ride done at a moderating, middlin pace. Fun and easy, same general course as the earlier ride. Roughly 35-ish miles, I think...
The 8:30 ride gets back downtown around 10.30 ish
The 9:00 gets back around 11:20 ish
I can bring the bike down in the am, just let me know where...
I'll definitely be in one of the rides, depending on the mood...
