I was successful because of many of the things I have learned reading this forum. Thanks to all who contribute!
This was my third attempt this year. The other two were foiled due to weather, one day it started pouring rain and another time a 25 mph headwind stopped me. But today I got up early and hit the road by 4:00 AM to avoid the heat. I picked the flattest route I could find and ended up with 2300 feet of climbing. My goal was 6 hours and I ended up finishing it in 5 hours 57 minutes, including stops. I used nothing but gels and nuun hydration caps and I felt great the entire time.
It really wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. I may do it again tomorrow!
Thanks again to all in this forum!
