Bicycle Mechanics - friction shifter help (confusion)

I am a bit new to the gears scene, and am trying to build up a frame with the down tube friction shifters (non indexed) I have some early c record ones that i am trying to use but they don't quite work on the odd little mount bolted on the frame. there is a small key that steps right at the top base of the mounting stem on frame. that prevents the stop boss from setting totally flat against the base of the stem mount... a bit hard to describe I suppose.. if any of you have any experience on this type of friction shifter mount i would love some help...

I'm not at all sure but what this looks like is the base from a type of downtube shifters Shimano made only in 1982 that mounted on a single boss on top of the downtube. Apparently nothing else fits but Loose Screws has the complete originals for only $10. Look here:

I responded in the road forum. I agree with another poster that that looks like an older SunTour arrangement though Shimano is a possibility as well.

I've never seen that on a Colnago.

I think if i file a key way into the stop bosses, it will work... maybe.

Thanks for the reminder. I did think there was a similar shifter mount also made by Sun Tour but couldn't find a reference to it, only to the Shimano version.

In regard to Suntour, maybe you all are thinking of Suntour Symmetric downtube shifters, I've got an '83 Centurion Pro Tour and an '84 Schwinn le tour that came with those. They trim the front derailleur in one direction as you move through the rear cogs. The frames have a unique type of braze-on for the shifters' base to mount on-

those both seem to have a different center part... ?
