Decided one day that I wanted a fixie so I set out to build one. This was my first project ever so it was a learning experience. It took about three weeks to do once I decided to pull the trigger. Pretty much a Sanford & Son special with parts from my garage or obtained from here and there. Total cost including some necessary tools is just under $650 ($380 of it is in the rear wheel).
The final thing this morning was the bar wrap, then I took it for a little spin. I like it!

No. It was a salvage from a crash that was lying around in the back room of my favorite LBS. It has an ugly dent on the top tube but it doesn't matter to me. I'm told it's structurally sound.

Sweet! :)
I'll be building one next month. I'm hoping it won't turn out to be another $1k project for me...

Correct...hence the high $ amount for the rear wheel (the hub was about $150). My wisdom is being questioned in the SS/Fixed forum but I stand behind my choice.

Those guys frown on any part that hasn't had at least 3 previous owners. I want to turn this old custom into a fixie one of these days.

does that thing have vertical dropouts?

Yes. That's the reason for the ENO hub.

I'm thinking you only posted that so someone would comment on your uncommonly long stem. :)
Cool frame

Nah, it's only a 12cm. If I wanted comments I'd post my current bike, which has a 13cm on it. :)
