How'd everyone do? We did 75 on Saturday and 40 on Sunday on a tandem with my daughter. Hot! Especially Saturday. Seemed like there was an unusual amount of carnage this year, too. We saw a girl go down Saturday where you cross those awful railroad tracks not far from the start, and a guy getting loaded into an ambulance up north somewhere. Quite a bit of road rash on display at dinner Saturday night.

What teams do you ride with? Ride reports, please!

Cheers.

Road the full Century on Saturday and the 40 on Sunday (well, actually, the 45, since we missed a turn somewhere and ended up with extra miles.) Saturday was very hot indeed. We were off the road before noon on Sunday, so we beat most of the heat. I heard about the crash on the tracks on Sat, not suprised given the condition of that crossing. There were a few bad tracks on the route but nothing else at that angle. We did pass a rider (female, I think) down a 3/4 of the way on Sunday, looked pretty serious, too. They waved us through, though, since they'd already called for help. Overall, it was a great ride (my first MS ride and only my 2nd completed century) and I'll definitely be back next year.

Oh, I was riding for the Utah Housing Coalition. Only 8 of us but a lot of fun.

This will be the last ride for my trusty old 81 Miyata 710, too (well, the last long ride) I'm getting a lighter bike!

God bless the folks on the interesting/weird/old bikes. Both of you. (I have no room to speak, riding a LeMond). Any idea what the new bike will be, nosferaustin? Did your whole group do the century?

Who was riding around on the tall bike Sunday morning at the start area? Was that you, Kemmer?

Was out of town for this ride. I'm signed up to do Ulcer in August down at Utah Lake, anyone else?

I had a wonderful time this year. Rode the full 100 at 20 mph with Team Slipstream on Saturday. I'm not a member, just a local knucklehead who pulled my share. Felt good at the route split and figured why not? Came back and rode another 75 on Sunday but the only object that day was to time the ride up and down Blacksmith Fork Canyon with a headwind in only ONE direction. You can set your watch by that canyon. If you spend more than 5-10 minutes at the top, the wind will turn before you get back down. It REALLY sucks to turn around and find the headwind all over again.

It's too bad my GF waited until after the MS ride to break up with me. I had the opportunity to pick up several phone numbers and/or emails this year. Those damn scruples get me every time.
