Would anyone recommend a shop in Queens? I'm thinking of piecing together a touring bike and would like to know if any of the shops cater to this. Thx!

Spin City on Queens Blvd in Forest Hills. Nice shop, good service, and friendly owner. They'll hook you up with a good touring bike, no problem.
