I am glad for the rain because we needed it, but did it have to open up and rain a flood 25 miles into a 30 miler. It was my longest ride of the year, I was feeling good and riding strong. I was riding a big loop of bike trails in Madison County Illinois, turned on to the last section of trail before hitting the roads for home looked at the sky and said I hope I can make it to the overpass for some cover. I didn't. It absolutly rained cats and dogs. What bummer, I actually had to call my wife to come and rescue me and did not get to finish my ride.

Oh well it was a good ride anyway. I was actually averaging over 15 mph until the rain hit.:p

I like riding in the rain. I actually go a lot faster in the rain as compared with a summer day. I wear swim trunks as bicycling shorts because they don't absorb water, and I can't see myself in speedos. Once you accept the fact that you are going to get wet it isn't bad, I'll even hit puddles and feel like a little kid again. It'd suck if I had a decent bike, I guess.

Unless it is cold, the rain is great. Keeps you cooled down. Just ride on - but remember to relube the chain after a bit.

I was out there very early this morning right as the fog was breaking. Rode from the YMCA in Maryville up the Schoohouse trail, down the Nickel Plate and Nature trails to Horshoe lake and then back up the Schoolhouse to the YMCA. It was humid as heck but I got done before rain came.

This is inevitable in Florida in the summer, you will be rain on. I like it as long as there is no lightning.

I know I wimped out getting picked up especially with only five miles of riding left; but riding in the rain can be pleasant. Riding in a monsoon when you cannot see 2 inches in front of your face is nuts. I hit a couple of showers in my ride that were refreshing, this was a freaking deluge. I just hope my shoes dry out enough to ride in the morning.

I hear you. I was out one night and I had to pick my route so I could hide under building overhangs and bridges. Then the cloud to ground stuff started and that was enough for me and I made the phone call.

That was me tonight.. 1.7 miles from home on my commute and the lightning started. Tried to wait it out but it just wouldn't pass and out came the cell phone. Dang texas weather.
If only I had left work 5 minutes earlier, or was 5 minutes faster :D

btw riding in the rain and mud is great fun, i'd recommend it to everyone, as long as the temp is above 12/13 with little wind to no, below that it's time to get the waterproofs out before you start riding..light wind is preferable aswell, windchill factor increases dramatically in the rain.
