I always thought a rabid chicken was kind of ironic. Can you imagine a chicken frothing at the beak pecking people to death? The avatar is Arabic for "infidel", which I am proud to be. :D

My first name is Santiago.

My dad's job takes him through the rural parts of Quebec and he totes around a digital camera I got him for Christmas. He's taken a lot of cool pics of the things he sees and the pic of the truck is one of my favourite.

Someone (I think Stromcrow) posted a link to a questionnaire site that determines what classical composer (or dead Russian, I can't remember which) you are most like. Mine came up as Dimitri Shostakovich, and damn if I don't look like him too. My Avatar is from one of his albums.

username: Cuda2k has been my email address since, you guessed it, around 2000. Barracuda has been a nickname of mine since before then.

Avatar: haven't changed mine in a while, it's the headbadge of my Gazelle Champion Mondial. I also have the headbadge img that's on my other steel bike, a custom painted bike I call the Barracuda Mk.I

Because I really do ride over this bridge on my laps and starting my distance rides. Plus, it's a great bridge- a real engineering marvel in its day (Petit thru-truss, for you engineering types). And, the view of the river from the deck is just stunning, especially at sunset.

ms.gio
06-24-07, 09:56 PM
I was quite involved all throughout high school where I took leading positions like being captain of my track team and leading/directing school retreats. There was one retreat my senior year where I was director and one of my best friends started to call me "Ms. Gio" for, I guess, she wanted to show me respect. *shrug* Since then, it kinda stuck. From time to time she and some other friends call me that.

I chose my avatar to show that I rode a bike. Also, my avatar changes monthly. Jschen has given me the name "Avatar Princess" due to how many times I've changed it.

My screen name is an avatar <edit: ANAGRAM, of course, is what I meant!> of my name, and at the time I first had to come up with something (it's been part of my email addy since 1997) I lived in the desert. <edit: and I meant to add--and since nearly everywhere I go someone's already taken the basic word, I've had to add the 1. Depending on the font, people occasionally think my username is miragel>

The avatar's me, just not all, hey-look-at-my-face-in-the-mirror-me. It'll do for now.

Well, I change my avatar all the time on a whim. Like my current one (as of 6/24 - may change tomorrow!) is a goofy shot I took from a weird angle. A friend I was riding with yesterday said, "your avatar looks like a huge helmet and little bitty head" and I thought, "and no neck." So..."No Neck Helmet Head" just popped into my head.

As for Merider1 - M.E. are my initials, Rider is because...well...I'm a rider, and the number 1 is because I'm a true dork and thought I had to have a number in my Handle. :p

Sig is on a whim too. Whatever or nothing, depending on my mood.

Calvin on a bike rocks, and Kid Charlemagne is the acid dealing hero of an old Steely Dan song. The name stays but the avatar changes every now and again.

twobikes
06-25-07, 06:15 AM
"Twobikes" was about the only descriptive thing I could conceive in the few seconds during forum registration when asked to supply a screen name that was not already taken. I bought a book of line drawings related to transportation, most of which are of very old things. A CD of the drawings was included for using them in desktop publishing. I struggled enough to get the image down to the size requirements and still be clear that I am not eager to change my avatar anytime soon. I probably would have preferred an image of a penny farthing bike, but someone is already using that, so I settled for a man on a boneshaker.

Name: Originally picked on a swing dancing website for my love of aerials (tossing the follow in the air) and the fact I'm a tuba player and it's stuck.

Pic: Picture of me swinging back two steins of German beer. Love the pic because if you met me you'd recognize me and if you haven't you wouldn't be able to tell from the pic. Plus it gives me wings!

I chose my avater because I'm a huge H.R. Giger fan, and this was one of the few artowrks of his that wasn't sexual in nature. This was actually the work he made for use in the thatrical poster for the movie "Futurekill". He also made a similar piece called "Red Vision" which IMO is far cooler (it's slightly abstract, and less bio-mechanical...which is unlike him, as 95% of his work is bio-mech), but the colors clash hardcore with the forum's white background (need a dark background to bring out the contrast in it).

I change avatars every so often too. My handle is kinda long story...

Many years ago, in the days of the "answering machine" (a device that predates voice mail), the family greeting was, "You've reached the right house but at the wrong time..." My last name is Wright. Fast forward to 1996 when we got our first computer and signed up for AOL. We decided on a screen name that was a take-off on the answering machine greeting, "Ritehse". I added "dad". So I am Wright house Dad.

Now you know the rest of the story.

My avatar was actually designed for me....actually for my website by a great kid with some artistic talent. My website is down at the moment, but I think I'll reinvent it and put it back up.

But I've used this pic to represent "me" for a few years now....it's my little view of a "KingTermite".

catatonic

If you want to know my nickname....

I first got it when I was younger for how I could pretty much zone everything out, and pretty much be in my own little world....one of the guy si hung out with said something along the lines of "Nevermind Steve, he's just being catatonic again"...and it stuck.

A few years later one of them got me a NASH skateboard for my birthday with of all things, a really cool spacey cat artwork on the bottom with the logo "catatonic" across it (amazingly that was a standard artwork). I kept that board up until it got stolen about 7 years ago.

To the internet phase of my life....the ISP I was subscribed to refused to let me use any part of my name as an email since i was a minor, so I had to come up with something....so I looked around my room, and lo and behold....I saw my "catatonic" skateboard. That became my first email address, catatonic at dmci dot net (not mine anymore, I moved from that place).

Since then the username has stuck.

I also have another "mustang_steve" which came about from an embarassing incident at school involving me and my mustang getting pulled over by the state police in front of the entire school for speeding, and my loudmouthed friend jumping out of the sunroof while we were moving and trying to "mack" on some members of the fairer sex. This one came about when we went to a small concert and one of them got the band to play a cover of "Mustang Sally", but instead it was "Mustang Steve".....that was a bit embarassing, but funny as hell.
