Anyone care to ride this Friday the 29th?
havn't decided if it's Road or Mtb, but am leaning toward a 50 miler road ride.
If anyone cares to join me, we would be hitting the road about 8:30 am.
Options are:
-----------------------------------------------------
Here it is!

Start 8:30am, which means meet at 8-8:15.

Lets start at the Back Bay HERE (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=100488868531686115216.000001128358578651118&ll=33.653137,-117.885017&spn=0.012896,0.015857&z=16&om=1).

We will go south around the BB to PCH.

head south on PCH, possibly through side street in Laguna as Jaguar recommended.
Keep the heading south on PCH to San Clemente. We will be stopping there for a break and snacks.
This should put us at just about 25 miles.
Turn around and head back, for a total of around 50 miles, which is just about my max distance.

Let me know that this id OK with everyone!

How about turning it around and doing BB south, to San Clemente, Dana Point or such?
The big issue is going through Laguna... about as much room to ride as.. well you fill
in the blanks....

When I lived in laguna N I used to ride throUgh LB and I can't remember a time when I didn't get close to being either doored or simply almost ran into the Curb so I started to ride the st parallel to the pch through LB.....its not quite so bad.....
Everywhere is very busy at that time of day during the week though so there's no avoiding it.....
But yeah ill be up for it if I don't have to work.....

Why do you keep organizing rides when you promised to ride up GMR with me? I thought we were friends. I'm beginning to think you only say you like me when you really don't!:(

I think I'm up for this ride. I'm flexible, but would also prefer to start early.

I'm also fine with slogging through Laguna. Yes, it's quite a pinch near the main beach, but it's only bad for a few blocks. But I'll go wherever the group decides.

You still doing this ride, Dan? My sleep schedule is still a bit wonky after RAAM, but if I find myself conscious, I'll try and meet up. Don't wait for me, though.

had a great ride today with Chimivee ( james).
Rode apx 46-48 miles, from BBay south an back.
I think of PCH as flat, when in reality there are a lot of "rollers" through newport and laguna.
Only incident was breaking a spoke on the rear. Thanks to James and some duct tape, was able to get it
out of the way and adjust the quick release so the tire would stop hitting the posts.

I think the broken spoke made me faster, as all of a sudden my ave speed picked up. ( It had nothing
to do with the tail wind :D ).

I did find out that the Roval wheel made by specialized have the spoke nipples INSIDE the rim. I would of had to take the tire off to adjust them. Who's stupid design was that??

All's good, and the weather was great!! 70 ish, and little to no wind. The near perfect ride!

12-12:30 or so.
I could have started at 7-7:30, as it was getting warm by 8:30.
Earlier on a warm sunny day would work!

Too bad about the spoke. But that's why I build my wheels witht the traditional 32 spoke setup. I've broken a spoke before and got the rim nearly perfect on the road, with the broken spoke.

Beanz, " destoyer of wheels", to quote another poster.....

I'm serious when I say I was faster on the warped rim..should just leave it that way!!

I will have it replaced, but if it becomes a common occurance, well that's a reason to upgrade!!

Drew, you want sun? There was plenty of sun today. I actually broke a sweat today!:D And I started a bit earlier than usual. Gina worked today but will ride tomorrow. Hope she doesn't melt out there!

Hmmmm! How well do you know Drew? I know him well enough to figure that while you were fixing up his spoke, he prolly let some of the air out of your tires!:D

I wouldn't put it past him... except, all I did to help "fix" his spoke is hand him some duct tape so he could tape it down.
