This thing is cool! The best thing about it is you NEVER have to take your hands off of the hoods to switch functions. The computer is controlled by buttons on the hoods under your thumbs.
cool deal.
OH i totally forgot to mention that the product did not hold up well at all to the " Head unit falling off truck bumper while still in original packaging and running it over test" in fact it failed miserably. In fact it failed so bad i had to buy a second head unit within a matter of hours.
So 2 middle fingers up to the HUFOTBWSIOPARIOT test but a definite pants down to the fully functioning unit

Maybe Shimano should contract out to Panasonic to build a MILSPEC-810-F compliant Toughcyclometer like their Toughbooks (http://www.panasonic.com/computer/notebook/default.asp). :D
I once had a ruggedised cycleputer... the Cateye CC8000 ATC ("All Terrain Computer"). It held up to a lot of abuse but I'm not sure it would have survived the HUFOTBWSIOPARIOT test either.

I just recently put the Flight Deck on my road bike as well. So far I really like it. Be careful though. On my first two rides I kept my eye on it more than on the road. There's enough information there to keep you distracted and cause you to crash.
Just my 2 cents.

If only it had HRM functions it would be the perfect computer!
Until it does, it's a no go.
I still wish Shimano and Campy would license out their interface so that other people like Polar or Cateye (yes, I know Cateye actually makes the Campy Ergobrain) and Sigma and others can market their own compatible (and probably better featured) stuff. Shimano knows drivetrains... Cateye knows computers and Polar knows HRM... let each do what they do best. FWIW, I do have FlightDecks on my bikes.
