Hi;

I didn't see another thread with this topic when searching, but if it's often discussed you can just point me to the right place, if you don't mind.

I have been riding for many years, but just started "training" last week, that is, I just started doing anything other than riding hard 3 times a week for about 30 miles. Now I've added some hill repeats to see what impact that has. (It's hard, for the record!)

Anyway, I am using a HR monitor for the first time and noticed that the hill I was doing would force my HR to 163-164 every time. I would then turn around, coast to the bottom and repeat. The coast part takes about 40 seconds. During that time my HR would drop to 120-121. That seemed really fast to me. Does this seem normal to you guys who do this sort of thing regularly?

Thanks,
Matt

this shows that you can recover very quickly - which is a good thing for us cyclists.

It says you're already in pretty good shape. Keep riding and you'll be super fit.
