Foo - How clean is your house, most times?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Public Poll - *FYI*

I started to put "how clean do you keep your house?", then realized I'd start having the machismo monkeys chiming how they don't clean, their wife does.....or the well off monkeys bragging about their maid.

So.....I'll keep it generic. However your house gets cleaned, how clean on average is it kept?

Live with my Mom - very mutual benefitial relationship - as I rent out my apartment (we own the double) - saves money and it works (Mom is 72 and enjoys me there and feels safe).

But Mom is a clean freak - runs her own cleaning business so it extends to the house. Even caught her cleaning the bathroom after I cleaned it. :( Hey I've cleaned houses before!

Now the house that I'm house sitting for this week (yep, being the single person - I've established a list of people I watch their houses for as it's easy for me to get and go at will), well <cough> it's "well lived in" and you walk around with shoes on at all times, never know when you may poo-golf due to one of the two quite untrained dogs ... :D

You rang?! Hey, I like to think I am providing jobs, not that I am lazy.

The truth is in the tropics if your house isn't kept so clean you could eat off the floor - many bugs are very willing to eat off the floor for you. Pardon me if I don't like to step on things that sting!

Besides, it isn't a maid, it is a Ama de Casa.

I don't have a house, you insensitive clod!

I do keep my box clean, though. Fresh newspaper curtains twice a week, a daily supply of tasty day-old pastries in the dumpster not far away, and my cardboard three-car garage is clean enough to eat off of! I wouldn't park my Porsche just anywhere, after all.

Say, where I am there's a HEATED large box on a stand (easy access) with glassed in windows (although I'm sure you can put some newspapers up for that "private" time - although the previous inhabitant didn't give a poo about where he let one) with a fake-o plant too! Fresh shavings! And your own food bowls! Interested? Spike won't be back for about a week as he's in the hospital, er, vet's for some serious big iguana therepy.

:D

And I do believe it has a black light! <70's music in the background, perhaps a velvet elvis or twooooo>

I cut my own hair and shave frequently. I am also as hairy as a werewolf.

You can come over, but don't look in the bathroom unless you are okay with thousands of tiny hairs on any other day.

My house is more studio/work shop than house.
The darkroom is spotless, a necessity for quality prints, but with shelves on all the walls and packed to the gills. My dining room is where I do my painting and is currently doing double duty as a bike shop. My kitchen is also spotless. I have worked in far to many restaurants to have anything less than a kosher clean kitchen. My living room, oh God no. Lets see there are four empty glasses on the coffee table, one dog on the (his) couch, one on her bed on the floor, it needs sweeping (couch, floor, coffee table, dogs, take your pick). The screened in porch is doing duty as a shed since my shed was flattened during the hurricanes two years ago. The front porch is clean, mind the bike when you come in. The kitchen porch has my grill on it and a couple of empty bags of charcoal underneath, and a dog when it's hot. And in my bedroom the bed gets made when I change the sheets, so twice a week, and the floor is covered with several shirt and pant shaped throw rugs. Oh, and the bathroom is spotless. The landscaping is nice and the grass is always cut.

Lets see.... my wife is allergic to every activity that involves cleaning (laundry, dishes, vaccuming, dusting, etc).
I spent years trying to keep a clean house and almost having a stroke. Now I have given up and just work on the biggest messes. It is either that or have no life and no recreational rides.

My wife is a neat freak and I am a slob. She was constantly picking up after me until I got sick of being whined at. Now I do my part but it is never quite good enough. You can almost eat off our floors, even the dog knows the wrath of dirty floors and does his part to keep the area around the kitchen table clean of crumbs.

CLEAN FREAK!!! :) You could seriously eat off my floors :) I can't stand clutter at all so I make every attempt for this not to happen. :)

I'm a bit of a Lazy Perfectionist in some areas, and this is one of them. I love a clean, uncluttered area, but I often fail to keep up on things. Once it's past a quick tidy to keep things clean, I sometimes have to wait until it bugs me enough to go nuts and really go at it. :)

I keep my apartment in above average condition. I wouldn't recommend eating off the floor in my place, but it turns out I get compliments from my apartment manager as well as family members who are neat freaks.

The wife and I are both organization freaks so the house is always straight. However with animals in the house I can't say I would eat off the floors.

I believe it was Elaine Boosler who said "Sure, you could eat off the floors in my house...look, there's some lima beans and a few Ritz crackers right over there."

Hey Snowy fancy coming to Charlotte for a few days:D :D :D :D

This is where I drew the short end of the straw, as the wife has allergies not a good idea for her to do the cleaning, therfore, I am now wondering why the heck I bought a house with 2651 square foot and 3 bathrooms:eek:

My house has all hardwood floors. Add a Border Collie to the mix, and you get to sweep daily.

Cleanfreak here (well, not me). My wife keeps it incredibly clean...and I have to admit, I don't like people stepping on my vacuum lines.
