I just bought a new front wheel online and it arrived today. I mounted the wheel in the fork but the wheel rubs the top of the fork in one spot to the point that it gets stuck there(usually there is a couple of mm clearance, quite tight). It's supposed to take a 700c which is what I have on it right now so its not a 700c/27" size issue. Is the wheel just out of round and would a trueing fix this?

Thanks.

Is the tire too big? There are many road forks that won't clear anything bigger than a 700x23 or 700x25 tire. If you have a 700x28 or 32 tire on the wheel, that may be the problem.

Not a tire issue. I have a 700x23 on there.

OK, a couple of more tests.

Have you removed the wheel and spun it by holding the axle just in your fingers? Is it round and true or is it out-of-round and wobbles?

Is the tire mounted evenly or is it higher in one area than the rest?

Can you try another wheel to see if it works properly in the same fork?

Anyone have any other ideas? I brought the wheel to the LBS to get rounded and its still sticking, tire seated properly and everything. Is it possible its something with the tires? I have 2 other older 700c wheels and they have enough clearance.
