Commuting - wheel sets ?

HI ,
i currently have a set of Mavic A317disc rims with Shimano M475 hubs & DT Swiss Champion spokes .
i am an average guy . about 75kilos = 165lbs
i would like to get some "StemRolling" wheels, fast strong & light .

please help with suggestions .

Fast/Strong/Light/Cheap, pick 3. Maybe even 2.

I had the A319's on my old giant OCR with disc brakes before some idiot U-turned into me and took out the back wheel, which I tend had replaced with the 719's. If the 317's are anything like em, they're gonna be heavy and not too aerodynamic but they can take a beating. How will they rolll will depend on your choice of tires.

I really, really like the 3 sets of Cane Creek's I've had.

the cheapest model is around $250, and is very strong. the weight is more centralized around the hub (compared to wheelsets of comparable total weight), making the wheel faster to accelerate.

My first set had about 12,000 heavy commuting miles (trued twice) before I retired them for a disc-brake set.

Second set just rolled past 2000 miles, no truing.

3rd set is on the full-susser mtb and only has a few hundred on it.

I highly, highly recommend both the product and the company. They are a bunch of good guys in NC. I've called them a couple times w/questions and talked to the real live people building wheels. The last set of wheels was missing an exterior seal (rubber cap over cartridge bearing). They fedexed out the missing part overnight.

I've got some Velocity Deep V's on order from Peter White Cycles.
Red with black spokes and hubs.
Not the lightest wheel set but they are supposed to be really rugged.
Their color selection is awesome. :D

The Stratos Disc aren't particularly light at 2000g for the set. At least not my definition of light.

You may have to go custom built to get a real light set. Check out the WTB Lazer Disc Lite hubs. Cheap and light. Then pick any decent road rim. Even the Mavic Open Pro would be a good rim.

+1 on Velocity hoops. I've got 600 miles so far on my Velocity Aerohead/Aerohead OC set from Mike Garcia at Odds and Endos (http://www.oddsandendos.com/). The blue ones look great with my yellow and blue bike.

Even after specifying 28 spokes front, 32 rear, and brass nipples, they came in at 1609 grams (plus tape and skewers), which isn't bad for everyday commuting wheels.

They seem to roll forever, have eliminated all the "junk shake" my bike used to have, and they shrug off the construction site between home and work and some curb-hopping.

I realize this doesn't help the OP in Sweden...

Actually the Open Pro is a rim brake rim. Doesn't matter, but it's not all black. Maybe a Velocity rim.

I'm repurposing some Mavic Open CDs w/dura-ace to a vintage Schwinn so I need some good commuting wheels also. I've taken your advice and bought the strados. The best deal I found shipped was $172.

I'm typically not a fan of pre-built wheels, but the mavic speed city wheels I run on my cross bike have been bulletproof. They're not lightweight though.
