Now normally, I would just assume that this is just another corporate shenanigan conceived by The Man, but looking at the specs, if you put on a new rear shock (original is no-name) and a new set of disc brakes, this would actually be a good bike! WHERE'S THE CATCH? AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!

I'm assuming its the weight. If there is no catch, I'm returning my rocky, buying this one, and airbrushing urban camo over it (because I'm not riding around on a bike by Cadillac).

Shimano deore XT RD, Deore FD, Kenda Nevegal Tires, Manitou Nixon Elite Fork. Damn it...

Had a guy come into the shop with a Cady road bike, with one brake in one hand, and the bolt in the other. Typical of a guy who wants a 'name', but doesn't want to investigate.

From Amazon.com user review:

I thought I was taking a real risk buying this bike. Though it has the Cadillac brand name on it, it is actually made by Kent bicycles in Taiwan. I don't know a whole lot about Kent except I remember the bike I bought for my toddler 8 years ago at Target was Kent. A bit dicey. But I decided to take the risk because of several factors: 1) It has some high-end components, 2) At 32 pounds it is relatively light for a full-suspension bike, 3) I trust that Cadillac won't try to sell a mountain bike for $2500 (the original list price) if it is total junk, and 4) For only $950 I can't go wrong. The parts alone are worth that.

I remained skeptical when it finally arrived in a box and I had to put it together. Neither the front shocks nor the rear had lockouts. It took me a couple of hours to get it all together and EVERYTHING needed to be adjusted and tightened. By the time I got it together it was too late to ride.

But today I took it out for my first ride and boy- howdy! Fantastic. It climbed like a mountain goat and stopped on a dime. None of the bouncing that I had feared (full -suspension bikes do that sometimes.) And downhill was a dream. It controlled beautifully. I felt in absolute control and had no hesitation to go fast, take jumps, and generally ride much more aggressively than I normally would.

All in all I am more than satisfied. I am ecstatic. Now if I could just scrape off that Cadillac logo (it is painted on... bummer.)

Other Cadillac bikes (road bikes in particular) have been reviewed quite highly by many people as a pretty great value (i.e. the parts on the bike are worth as much as the bike costs in most cases).

The AM2.7 is $999 with free shipping at Amazon.com.

Edit: Didn't realize that was Canadian Costco site, and Canadian dollars. Still, if you could somehow get someone to send it up there to you....$999 USD = $1,071 Canadian.

Something gets posted about a Cadillac bike every 6 months or so. Same thing with Jeep, Honda, etc.

it's a very good bike....incredible bargain for the price

don't worry...its not made by GM...they pay a small royalty to use the name and logo to appeal to the boomers and their kids

but kent bikes makes the frame! if you buy it, i'd strip it and get a new frame.

why?...its a great frame used by some other brands...made in taiwan like many others

I really just can't see paying $1100 for a no name bike. Even if it does have great components, I'd probably go get an 05 Dakar from jensonusa new or something along those lines.

Wowowowowowowow, lets not be hasty. I wouldn't trade in my Rocky, for alot of reasons:

1. Cadillac, bleh.
2. No lockout on the rear suspension. That's crucial for me.
3. No lockout on the front. If I'm getting an new bike, it sure as hell better have that.

only a poorly designed frame needs a lock-out on the rear...that Nixon fork is incredible...very rare to see on a bike at this price

sad that most can't see past the badge
