Fifty Plus (50+) - The Sweet Spot in Time

Just got back from The Touring Ride in Rural Indiana, a fine week-long ramble through quiet hills, peaceful valleys and endless cornfields. One of the sweetest moments, one which Crosschain would have dearly loved, was watching the fllm "Breaking Away" the night before we visited Bloomington, a lovely university town where the entire movie was filmed.

The next day, we visited the "Little 500" track, the site the climax event of the film and stopped by a number of other locations that were part of this wonderful move. Following Dave Stoeller's wheel was a sweet spot in time that brought me back to my youth.

It was delightful meeting our own Monoborracho. Sadly, he had to leave the trip early for personal reasons. Hope all is well with him and that we will see him down the road soon.

I lived in Bloomington when Breaking Away was filmed - watched parts of a couple of scenes being filmed.
The current Little 500 track was built some time after the movie was made. A quick Google Earth look at Bloomington shows that the old stadium where the Little 5 used to take place no longer exists.

This might help, maybe: I ate a least one piece of pie every day, including blackberry pie, chocolate pie, rhubarb pie, apple pie, more rhubarb pie--not to mention at least several pieces of home made cake. And I'm not even gonna tell you about the 75-year-old femaie tri-athlete who shared a bottle of wine with me. What happens in Indiana stays in Indiana.

A very sweet spot in time indeed. You sure make it sound good with the pie - except the rhubarb part. Do tell more about wining and dining the 75 year old lady athlete. I bet there's a good story there.

Too many Hoosiers grow rhubarb and make pie with it. Even sweet potato pie is better than rhubarb pie.

Yum, rhubarb pie. One of my favorites, as long as it hasn't been ruined with strawberries.

Pie every day along with several pieces of cake. JT sure knows how to tough it out.

I'm reading this thread eating a whole grain slab of bread smothered with homemade rhubarb jam made by me dear ol ma.

That appears to be styrofoam. I wonder if he has more wine in there for him and the 75 year old lady:D
