Can someone tell me which pack to get? Below are the options I'm considering. This is for city/school commuting purposes, and occasionally picking up some groceries etc.

I've heard that single strap systems funk up your back. Is that true?

Chrome bags are nice, but for bang-for-the-buck it's hard to beat Banjo Brothers. I have one of these (which I love):

This bag has got double straps (one over the shoulder and another under the left arm) so it's secure, and you can loosen or tighten the strap while you are riding (e.g. one-handed). The bag is waterproof and very well made.

For groceries and errands I am seriously considering a set of these as well:

Banjo Brothers all the way. Commuter Backpack is awesome and their Messenger Bag looks nice too. I also have the waterproof pannier and the grocery pannier, all great products.

I also have a Banjo brothers backpack that is really nice. I have thought about getting their grocery panneir to use on my bike that has a rack.

If you're going to be doing any grocery shopping, don't bother with the Metropolis. It's kind of awkwardly shaped, making it difficult to pack much into it. If you're leaning towards a messenger bag, search the Singlespeed and Fixed Gear forum for tons of info on many brands of messenger bags. A lot of them have X-straps now (an extra strap that goes over your other shoulder) for especially heavy or uncomfortable loads.

You gotta make a decision. Its great to get feedback to help with it, but ultimately, you have to decide!

Sure, it would be nice to have somebody decide for you, then you can blame them if you don't like it

Don't be a weight weenie....get a full-up backpack so you have the room if you need it.
