1) Passing me, a fat guy, is not an accomplishment. Don't drop your hands off the hoods and ride upright like you are finishing a race in first place.

2) HELLLLOOOOO!!!! I am the size of a Mack Truck and and I am wearing a fluorescent green jersey. Why would you make a left in front of me as I am making my left?

3) Please let folks know in confined road areas or on paths that you are passing on the left. Runniing into me will be more painful for you I can guarantee.

4) Why do people need to zig zag all over the damn path and nearly run me off the bike path.

5) Why bother wearing a helmet that does not fit while you are zig zagging all over the damn path!

6) You see me coming down the path and you wait to pull out right in front of me when I am just 10 feet or so away!

7) What are the odds of a garbage truck coming down hill as you are about to head up a narrow bike path! Pretty damn good if you are me!

8) If I am the only other rider on the road and I pull far right to let you pass don't get so damn close as you pass. You are not in the peleton! You are on a friggin road in a park!

I am feeling rather pissed at the moment! I just needed to say what I just said!

a) Going riding after somebody threatens to sue your company is not a good thing
b) Riding 20 miles out so you have to ride 20 miles back after said threat is also not a good thing.

Pedestrians - see that huge space that has that fancy sign of people walking? You know, the one right next to the water with all the benches? Don't get pissed you keep having to stop walking side by side taking up the entire bike path when you have four times as much space with a better view 2 feet away. Why do the rent-a-park-ranger yell at the bikers if they're slightly over the line but don't tell the walkers to get off the bike lane? [No these aren't runners taking a break, not unless they're running in suits with bags].

To clear a path I usually scream real loud "AHHHH NO BRAKES NO BRAKES!!!" And I have a look or horror on my face. Works all the time. :)

the only thing that makes me upset are runners running the opposite way of traffic, that UPSETS me! Im the one who needs to go on the road to make room for them cause they dont move!!!!!!!!!!
follow the traffic, I dont care if you're walking, running, jumping , hopping, just follow the darn traffic flow!

Ah sweet Costa Rica, this uncivilized paradise who believes you have a right to ride a bike... You do know up there you all are considered radical extremist - perhaps even dangerous outlaws.

I don't know about your area, but everywhere I've been its the law for walkers/runners to be against traffic (opposite direction). Bikers are required by law to ride same direction as traffic.

My problem was a lady I used to ride with when I first started riding. She was heavy, 50something and very "in your face" kind of attitude. She couldn't ride and drink water at the same time, so she would stop to drink water. The BIG problem was that she refused to go off the path....she would stop right smack dab in the middle of the bike path, plop both feet far out wide to brace herself and drink/rest for 5-10 minutes.

I would yell at her, tell her about trail etiquette, everything, but she just ignored me. She would give some excuse like she was old enough to have earned the right to stop where she damn well pleased or something like that.

At least she didn't ride very long.....she probably rides about 3 times a year now. I'm surprised she didn't cause any accidents....just coincidence.

I just checked, you're right KT, I never knew that:o
but... please move a bit if any cyclists are coming your way! it's way easier for them to move then for me to turn my head around and figure out of Im going to get hit if I push over for them, ya know????

BDG - it is assumed that if you run like the Bionic woman you should go with the traffic, otherwise you should go against the traffic. You might be in the first category. :D

I'm not saying it isn't annoying.....the problem is that most walkers only do it once in a while and don't know any etiquette....most cyclists probably ride all the time and know the etiquette. It would be nice of non-regular walkers just used some backroads where bikes didn't go, eh?

BDG, let me help you out here. Given your French accent, I am going to assume you have a European ancestory where of course people tend to drive on the other side of the road. Therefore, it is my most humble opinion your were on the correct side of the road.

Just all the traffic was on the wrong side. :D

(all of this is probably hogwash of course)

I am not sure if the lefts and rights are mixed up here, but when running you should be running with the traffic on your right. You should be on the left side of the road, opposite of where you would be biking or driving. Cars and bikes should be coming straight at you.

On a road I run/walk facing traffic. Riding a bike I always ride like a vehicle because in my state I am subject to the same laws as motor vehicles.

I get yelled out for ridng my bike on the road. I get yelled at for riding on the bloody bike path. I guess if you ride a bicycle you are just not going ot be loved by everyone.

Just bring Jon along. He'll clear out the whole county and you get to save your vocal chords for more important things - like yelling at Jon to keep his sewer-smell away from you. :D

BDG, listen to Mr. Miyagi (Karate Kid), "Walk on left side of road, ok. Walk on ride side of road, ok. Walk in middle, sooner or later you get squished like grape."
