General Cycling Discussion - which are the can't miss stages of the TDF 2003?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I want to watch the most important stages, like the mountains, which stages shouldn't I miss?

For me, the Prologue through Stage 20 are the must-see stages, and I have planned my life accordingly.

For classic mountain stages, you won't want to miss the Galibier/Alpe D'Huez on July 13, the Izoard on the 14th, and the Tourmalet on the 21st. But why cheat yourself out of the whole Tour experience? Watch it all. Watch it over and over and over.

Thanks RG, I have been trying to watch every day, but I will for sure watch those 3 stages you have listed, thanks again.

I completely agree. However, I would add the Team Time Trial into the "must see" mix. It happens this Wednesday (9th).

I agree- the Team TT is like one of my favorites.... I like all the TT, but the team TT is the best.

For me, the mountain stages. I'll be taking the phone off the hook for those.

What kind of t.v. coverage is available of the TdF in OZ? Just curious.

As you might gather from some of the other posts, in the U.S. we've got it on one cable channel, not available everywhere.

Nightly 1/2 hour highlights package on SBS at 6pm. Plus three live stages (don't know if I'll be sitting up all night to watch them however). SBS is the network that has it. It's also available on cable through Fox Sports, but last I heard they only had the 1/2 hour package and no live stages.

So maybe my post should be re-phrased, "I'll be taking my phone of the hook for the highlights of the mountain stages!"

Geez, OLN here is showing something like
7 or 8 hours of TDF daily (may be more?) lets see
thats 8 hours for 3 weeks, don't think the boss is
gonna like this :D

I agree with Koffee, Stage 4 Team Time trial is a must see,
when done right its like poetry in motion (hey that'd be
a good song title!), watch USPS its a thing of beauty.
then, Stages 7, 8 and 9 (stage to gap is gonna be
very interesting, watch for CG changes here).
Stages 14 and 15 and stage 12 Ind time trial,
and stage 19 team time trial.
those are the big stages but I'm watching the entire
thing
