I don't guess when I say which I like best. For flatland, the shorter the better. More like 160 mm - 165 mm.

How tall are you?
How big are your feet?
How long is your TT?

And also the brand of crank can limit your size choices. Profile has the biggest selection.

I'm 6 foot and i've got huge feet. I have 175mm Primo Hollowbites now, but if i ever got new cranks they'd be 170mm Profiles. Because i like to have more room for my feet on x-ups and stuff.

Go for profiles in 175mm. As simple as that, probably the best cranks ever. Primo cranks suck

My Primo cranks are just fine. Although some of the older ones have trouble with the pedal bosses or whatever coming out. But i think they solved that with hollowbites.

Naa it's just that i've seen way too many hollowbites crack and they're way too chunky. You'll be fine though because you mainly do trails so there's less stress on them.

minichamp31

Yeah dude, just go for Profile's. They have 'em for $160 in Dan's Comp and that comes with the bottom bracket and everything. But I already voted.

Why?

how many broken power bittes have you seen? pedal bosses coming loose don't count

i want the demolition light ones in white. i think they are good for the price

eightdip

I hate the look of the demolition ones. They are the same size as the FSA Smack Daddy's which are wayyyy too fat

Im sure they are good cranks though

minichamp31
06-27-07, 12:20 PM
If you think they're fat, you have to see Shimano Saints and DXR's. They are some fat cranks.

Exactly 2.

They're chunky as hell, 41 thermals are better cranks and around the same price.

Good job I don't like those either

The demolition cranks aren't fat at all. They are the same as my Fit canks... And yes primo cranks are gay, and they make bad sounds.

What's the good job for? And when them or the Saints(same thing but black) are on a bike, they don't look bad.

I don't think they'd be that bad. I'll have to ride my friend's bike someday and see how they are.

They look sooo bad. They work on a mtb which is what they were made for. My friend has a set on his P3

dont they use loose bearings and are mad expensive?

eightdip
06-28-07, 09:30 AM
Euro BB. So sealed. Yeah they are mad expensive and they have that hollowtech thing where you can see straight through the axel.

The hollow axle is so cool. And the DXR's are made for bmx'ers now.

gnr rocker

you could have put the mtb ones on a bmx as long as there was a euro bb. they just don't look right for a bmx. mountain bike=yes, bmx=no

minichamp31

Whatever, I like 'em. If I had the money I would either get those or Supercross Sinners. They actually look normal. Or FSA Carbon crank arms. Yes they're carbon fiber.

I've never heard of anyone having those types of problems with these cranks. The only bad things i hear about them is that the are ugly, and the pedal bosses sometimes strip or come out on the older ones.

I don' just ride trails either. I ride it all. I just find myself in the woods the most cause trails are free.

eightdip
06-29-07, 07:29 AM
Thats why I said mainly do trails. Because its true.

I've seen 3 crack at my local skatepark and 1 set crack in the city

ODYSSEY 41 THERMAL 3-PC CRANK -$149.99

is my choice so far.

minichamp31

Go with Profile's. Period. What kind of BB do you have? 'Cause if you have an American, you can get Profile's with the BB, spindle, and arms for like $160.

Profiles may be my favorite choice. But Fly and Odyssey are very good cranks as well. You can't go wrong with any of those 3.

I'm really thinking about getting new cranks. I want to go with Profile's but the DK Social cranks are nice too, they're cheaper, and they come in my size(170mm). Are the Profiles that much better?

FitRider 921
07-04-07, 11:29 PM
Yes, I'd say the Profiles are well worth it. I'm not a big fan of DK parts, but their cranks don't look so great. Their previous model (Chopstix) were decent, but there were better cranks. I'd definitely go with the Profiles over the DK cranks.

Lifetime warrenty on profiles (I think?)

Also a lifetime warranty on the ChopSticks. Which are great cranks.

I've had a pair of Profile race cranks for about 5 years, they were third hand when I got them - ridden by two very rough riders. They have gone through countless bike changes and I've never had a reason to buy new ones. They are slightly bent, but I don't notice it, everything else is sound, they must be atleast 7 years old. I've heard of people using 10+ year old ones with no problems. Nearly everyone I ride with has Profiles.

Odyssey Wombolts look good, seen a few people riding them and haven't heard any complaints.
