Bill #1808, Improved Roadway Safety & Updated Bicycling Laws successfully cleared both the Maine House of Representatives and Senate and will be signed into law. Thanks go to all Maine bicyclists as well as others who called in their support. After the signing, 60 days will be required so that people can be informed of the new legislation and that it can be enforced.

The state of Maine can now be added to the list of states that recognize and use the "three-feet-to-pass" law when passing cyclists as well as other needed legislation for cyclists.

Thanks, everyone.

Any states other than Illinois and Florida that have a similar 3ft requirement?

Utah has. Frequently ignored, never enforced.
