View Full Version : Old tandem Front wheel
Me and my roommate were taking out our newly acquired rollfast tandem that was probably built in the 1940's. We were going down a little hill then I noticed the front wheel getting really out of true. Tried to stop but I guess the brake pressure messed up the rim more. Developed a hop, and the hop got caught in the fork. Bam we go down, end of story broken fork and taco'ed wheel. We are fine, and kind of thought it to be amusing. We had only been riding it ten minutes, I just wanted to see what I needed to fix. So anyways, what can I replace this wheel with? I kind of just want to get a mountain bike fork, and get a strong mtb wheel and replace it with that. But its probably not going to be strong enough. As to finding older balloon wheels any sources out there? Cheap ones... I'm going to go to my local bike coop and see if they can help me.

A mt. bike fork/wheel *may* fit a 1940s Rollfast. One way to find out is going to LBS. However, that could cost more than the Rollfast is worth.
Maybe you should rebadge that Rollfast to 'CrashFast'?
I think it will be possible to buy a mtb wheel at my local bike coop for pretty cheap. Maybe 30 bucks. I just hope its strong enough. This bike is just for fun anyways.
Got everything fixed for 10 dollars at my local bike coop. Not really correct to period anymore but it works.
