I'm pretty much still a novice here so please bear with me. I have a trek 1.0 eight speed, triple crank, with a shimano 2203 front derailleur and a shimano tiagra rear derailleur. I want to up grade both but most of what I'm finding is made for 9 and 10 speeds. will a Ultegra-FD 6503 work for the front? Seems only difference is it is for a 9 speed chain. I think it should. I'm still looking for a solution for my rear derailleur. Any more ideas on upgrading a bike of this type would be appreciated.

Any Shimano 9 speed derailleurs will work, and all 8s except Dura Ace. Any triple FD will work.
Why upgrade? Are they not shifting well? If so, it's probably the chain or shift cables (or even shifter), not the derailleurs.

There is no point in upgrading. Most new riders think that upgrading their derailleurs will provide them with better shifting. The fact is that the system you have now will shift as well as anything if it is set up correctly.
