Commuting - For the total commuter ... the perfect bike ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
:D
Not that I would be caught riding one ... but it would sure as hell beat stashing the stuff in my backpack or panniers ... but then - it would mean I could buy more!

Ha! It took me a while to figure it out...like, "Yeah, so it's got wire baskets, so? ...uh, well wait, the seat's facing this way, that's weird, those big huge baskets in front... where the hell are the handlebars...omg it's a CART!"

That style has been around for a while.
BTW the same company makes this (http://www.dutchbikes.us/special_artisan_woody.html), one of the most beautiful commuters I have ever seen.

You can get these now in an actual LBS in Portland. It's right on my commute route and so much fun to watch the test riders. :D

It looks like it would be hard to steer.

Those bikes are around here. Very useful. I love the shopping cart getup though, full points for creativity.

a small grocerer is only four blocks away. They have most everything I need. The larger grocerer only 1.3 miles away. Since cycling is exercise, in order to ride a real bike , I'll go back once, maybe twice in order to fit it in my panniers.

If I lived in town I'd totally build one of those. That's cool. Unfortunately it's 5 miles over 55 MPH roads with no shoulders to the nearest grocery store from my house.

For my trip to China. I seen these styles of bike in great numbers around Bejing and parts of Korea. These provided a little better handling than the one posted above.

Dang, that is pretty! The wood is compeltely ornamental, but that is stone gorgeous! (I do some cabinetmaking and woodworking when I can, and I appreciate nice wood artfully used.)
