Commuting - Clients wanted a photo on my xtracycle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Showed up for a family photoshoot this evening and not only did they want photos with it, but I had to give rides around the parking lot to all the kids :D I just got an email from their mom and the kids told her on the way home that they actually had fun at a family photoshoot. Try spreading around good bikey cheer like that with a regular trailer:D

I've had some photos with engaged couples, but no bride and grooms yet!

I teach photography and am a bike commuter. Though I carry my laptop in my backpack, I just haven't worked up the nerve to put the $$$ camera and glass in a pannier. Do you have magic cases or what? How do you make yourself comfortable about hauling your expensive work tools about on a bike.
And yes, I do really like your work!

ONE DAY?! We already do (those of us not spending all of our money on Rogaine that is)
The black shirts, the tough Xtracycle, how can you go wrong. Great shots.
I love how the skateboard wheels are peeking out in one photo. Woohoo, multi-modal transportation!
Beautiful photos, BAH.

Awesome bike man! The Extracycle is such a cool thing, we have a local yocal around here with one who absolutely loves his.
Nice pics, I am sure you get stopped all the time with such a slick ride.

What do they think of you posting their pix to the forum?
What do they think of you posting their pix to the forum?
Clients know that their photos may be posted to the intranette and if they have a problem with it for any reason, all they have to do is say so and I oblige. It's a bummer sometimes because I have some really great shots of people that I won't ever be able to show off. If these photos were like some of the more "intimate" shots I do, they would never make it here of course. And as extra precaution, I don't post their real names, addresses or phone numbers ;)
beingtxstate- It's a very common occurrence. Since I've integrated the longboard onto it, I can never ride past the skatepark without somebody holding me up and checking it out :)
d2create- do I ever :D All sorts of photos on my site at http://www.bikerubbish.com But here is one

Thanks Cerewa! I'm working on getting some custom longboards done that will match our bikes :)
cccorlew - The xtracycle is fantastic for this. I can set my bag in the pouch in the back and when the straps are tightened, it pulls it up off the wideloader so it's suspended and not touching anything. It will move a little on big hits(which I try to avoid of course) but even then, it doesn't hit up against anything.
Here's some photos of it loaded.
This was before I drilled holes into my longboard and made it the snapdeck. There's some fun hills around here that are a little far to skate to, but the xtracycle makes a perfect transport :)

Well thanks to you I now have to work late. I've just spent about an hour looking at the fantatic photographs you've taken and I'm going to have to make up the time. I love the happy relaxed style you've got when taking photos of people with your bike.
Looking at these has broken any resolve I had left in fighting my desire for a digital SLR.
I'm pretty sure that the only thing seperating my rubbishly composed and poorly though out blurred snapshots from your fantastic photos is the fact that I don't have a digital SLR. I'm sure with a digital SLR all my photos will look like yours.
Lookout credit card here I come. (this is typical of me trying to buy skill and ability, like the time I bought a better bike because I couldn't get my fat ass up a hill, stupid new bike is still to heavy to get up the hill, I'm waiting for helium filled bikes)

Hee hee. Well, that's the theory some people use when buying $3000 carbon bikes; spending money will make them racers. Or buying $15k in tools will make you a fine cabinetmaker. Or a $15k telescope will make you an astronomy whiz. Or...pick your hobby.

If I had a $$$ camera, I would put it in a pelican case. Lightweight, strong, watertight.

Lots of scuba divers with expensive cameras use these to transport their cameras through airports, but also use them to transport the cameras onto dive boats.
Getting these attached to the bike is the next trick - I guess if you could find a pannier into which the case would fit, you would be all set.

Off topic, but has any one tried to order a 26" Free Radical kit lately? When I ordered mine earlier this month, Xtracycle said they were out of stock until July 1. I've since received an e-mail reporting that the shipping date has been pushed back to Aug. 1.
I wonder what's going on. Strong demand? Supply chain problems?

Or a Hummer will make you a better lover.
