is skidding the human-powered drifting?
drifting has roots in japan.
fixed gear culture has roots in japan.

fixed gear is 'hip' for bike geeks, as is drifting for car geeks.

fast and furious 4: alleycats and racing caps?

track bikes on the street culture started in new york/jamaica, not japan. fixed gear "culture" started in 19th century europe because it was the earliest style of bicycle. njs culture, on the other hand...

agreed..sorta.

Fixed on the streets in Jamaica...not because of a 'street culture', but because that's all there were there and that's all you grew up riding.

Jamaica, the island, not Jamaica, Queens...hardly any fixed gears here.
