Hello everyone,

We bought a pair of Scwinn MB bikes last year from Dick's last year and I took it out for a spin a few times. Less than a year later and 40lbs less I am now looking around to buy my "first" road bike. Since I bought my MB I took it for a tuneup and changed the tires to a more slick style.

I looked at the big chains and found a Scwinn and a GMC Denali for about $200. The most I can spend on a bike at this moment is about $400 total and I was looking for you guys to give a new member some advice on what model and year of bike, I should like to get the most for my $$$.

Thanks guys!

-Sergio

Ditch the chain stores and go to a "real" bike shop.

If you only have ~$400 to spend, you're best bet is ebay or craigslist. Most road bikes (from a bike shop) are going to start around $600.
