Anyone riding one of the Princeton Freewheelers rides on August 4 ...
I've sent in the application, but have never done one of their rides before. I'll be doing the 62 mile ride, or the 100 if I'm feeling good and ready that day. I have done many centuries, but I'm coming back from a stent implant in February, and don't want to go crazy.
I wouldn't mind hooking up with someone to ride it with. I train in northern Ocean/northeast Burlington/southern Monmouth Counties. I live near Great Adventure.

The routes aren't bad, fairly flat to rolling, nothing too severe at all; fairly scenic roads. But the club has occasional problems with logistics--e.g., one year, we arrived at the last rest stop on the century, a hot, humid day, and they had run out of water. Another year, again a hot, humid day, the century cue sheet read either 102 or 104 miles; but when we got that far, no end in sight, and we came in at 108 miles, a big difference to my friend doing her first century. Another time, the club had run out of sandwiches at the ride end. Great t-shirts, though.
My sense is that more and more communities in Central Jersey are using that tar & chip sealant, which makes for a harsh, bumpy ride, with a lot of rolling resistance.

I don't know if I'm doing PFW yet, Since I normally ride the are it seems a little weird to pay for my own routes. :). This Saturday I'll be leading a ride out of Cranbury. It's a Century (your neck of the woods, down to Chatsworth), avg speed about 17.5 mph, 8 AM, Village Park, Cranbury.

That's a trait that the communities in the area of/west of the Griggstown Canal. I've not run into it on rides East and South of the Canal.
ncherry,
I'm going out of town for business through this weekend ... I'm not sure I'm ready for a century yet.
I did 40 today, solo, and felt good afterwards. I'll certainly be good for 62 by Aug. 4, and maybe more.
I'll try to catch up with you on a future ride ... maybe on something that is not a century. Otherwise, I'll hook up on one of your rides when I'm ready. I project by late August/ September.
I've done tons of centuries in the past, but I'm on a comeback from a heart attack in Feb., due to a three year layoff ... don't ask, it was stupid to get off the bite, and eat like crap ... I knew better.
But, I'm well on my way to getting back to where I was.
Greg

I'll continue to do mostly centuries right through October. Then I'll begin to back down on the milege for winter. I will be leading several other PFW/CJBC rides that may drop to 70 but include more hills. Some of those ride may be out of other locations so check before showing up. Club rules apply. :)
im doing the century.also i heard that one of the years the ride was as much as 112 miles. anyway ive been forced, kinda sorta, to do the century even tho i barely train at all. hopfulyl i will be able to make it....
Anyone doing the PFW "Event" this year?
