Ok, I fell down and went BOOM last night.

I've been slowly working on my bike. This was not a me v/s anything but the pavement crash (and I know that this question would be a TOTALLY different question if it was versus a vehicle or wall, so bear with me).

In the case when it is a fall over and go boom because a crack in the road decided to rise up and smite me thing, what should I check for that I may have overlooked before it is safe to ride the bike again?

I'm going to head over to the LBS today to look at new brakes, and hope that my new rear tire will be here soon. I need to reattach the zip ties for my fenders, as they totally popped when I went a** over teakettle. My rims looked OK. I got the chain back on, that looked fine. (I ride an old Schwinn road bike from the 80s, BTW).

But being a n00b, I just want to make sure that I don't overlook something important due to inexperience, and you know, crash into something meaner than the street because I missed it.

Oh yes, I'll also be getting some gloves. My hands sting something awful today. :D

(and before you ask, of course I was wearing a helmet. I didn't even break my glasses or get a knock on the noggin, amazingly.)

If the bike went down on its RH side, check that the rear derailler didnt get bent in. If it was bent in, it will cause gear shifting problems and may tangle with your spokes when you shift into a low gear. Check that the handle bar is straight and the brake levers are in their correct positions.
