Looking for a hardtail with hydraulic disc, decent component but doesn't have to be top shelf obviously. Anyone just make this purchase and have comments about their ride? Tried to get a Trek 6700 but they said they were out of my size and factory was out due to year/model change-over. Anyone have suggestions?

You should say what kinda riding you wanna do so people can answer your question better. There are many diffrent types of hardtails.

...cross country mostly. I am in FL right now with mostly technical trail riding, some drops. Want to use it in the MTNs eventually.

how big are the drops, if there small then most cross country bikes will be able to handle them, if they are relatively big you might need an all mountain bike. small i would say is up to two feet. when you say they mtns, what mountains, do you mean downhilling, because if you do the xc bike won't hold up, i had a fullsusp xc bike that began tp fall apart(not literally) after i spent a couple weeks biking in the killington area, including about ten trips down killington.
