Mountain Biking - air assist

the fork on my new bike will have an air assist shock, what do i need to add air to it, a shock pump i would imagine? its a marz dj 3.5 sl

All you need is a shock pump. Get it from your friendly neighborhood bike shop.

does it need to be marzocchi specific or can i get a sette one from pricepoint

Hmmm. My 05 dj3 only requires 15 lbs max of pressure in each leg so a low pressure one would be better. But again, that is for my 05, not sure of the newer forks though. MTNbk3000, maybe look at the manual online and see what the pressure range of the fork is. The high pressure pump I have has poor resolution that low.

You are right. I couldn't get a regular pump to pump that in. i have the marz pump which goes to 200si, the ranging on the low pressure side is very easy to read.

you were right at least for the 2007 dj 3, so i would imaginge that the dj 3.5 sl would take 0-15 psi

Of course you can. I do. It might just be a bit harder to be accurate at low PSI.

how do i tell if it is a shrader valve, is it the same kinda shrader vavle as a tire?

i would imagine that it is

^^A shraeder valve is the same type of valve found on car tires and some bike tires.

If you are careful you will be able to use a regular bike pump.

You might need to try a few different pumps because if I remember correctly the valve is sunk down in the fork.
