I'd like to try a wool jersey, but here in Dallas it's in the 90's everday right now. They say wool more comfortable than synthetic in most temperatures. What's the hottest you'd wear yours?

Mercy! I don't have an answer for you, but I live in Houston and just HEARING the word "wool" between April and September makes me cringe.
we used to wear wool year round before all this newfangled
lycra and synthetic stuff came out.
Wool is a good wicking fibre and is surprizingly comfortable
in the heat.
I still have a few old ones that I wear here in dallas.
The only problem I see currently is that any of the wool blend
jerseys are they are very expensive.

lotek is right in several points. I have a couple of short-sleeved merino wool jerseys I picked up for AUD$35 each and I just about live in them, irrespective of the weather. In winter, they form a base layer under synthetic tops. In summer, I'd wear them as the only layer. But I have worn them so much, they are starting to disintegrate and look scungy. Sadly, like most good things, production ceased on them just after I bought, and I haven't been able to find similar quality at the price since.
It's important to seek out a fine weave. The higher the quality, the better off you will be. Merino wool (NZ or Australian) is very high quality and won't causing itching. Cheap woollen products usually have lower quality (coarser) fibres mixed in, which leads to itching.
Wool is a natural fibre and providing the garment is a fine weave of quality fibres, you can wear it in any weather and be very comfortable.
Yes and Ground effect in new zealand makes effect cycing tops in Merino wool.
I have several Icebreaker (thats the brand) Merino wool base layers and midlayers. You'e excellent and very comfortable.
They don't smell if sweat in them
they're remain cool even in really hot weather.
They last forever!!

Glad I read the rest of this post, as I was trying to figure
out what grounding schemes had to do with wool jerseys!
Personally I like a star ground pattern ala Naim.

The guys are right, a good wool jersey will last indefinitely in the right conditions, i.e., laundered carefully ;)
I remember picking up a surplus East German team jersey in around 1990- on a market stall in Scotland! Fantastic quality, with long sleeves and nice ribbing/zip detail. The perfect year-round training top.
East Germans, huh? that dates me, doesn't it?
