I'm considering building a Tri/TT bike and fitting it with Zipp 404 clinchers.

But, I'm a bit worried because of some less than favorable (though several years old) reviews (http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/wheels/wheelsets/zipp-speed-weaponry/PRD_28389_2490crx.aspx) I've found online (mostly concerning durability and quality control).

Anyone care to comment on their Zipps?

I don't own them, but from what I've read, Zipp had a QC problem on their hubs a few years ago that has seriously been ERASED from their manufacturing process now. Everyone I know that rides their 06 or 07 wheels has nothing but love.

I've got a 2005 404 front and a pair of 2006 808s and have never had a problem with any of them.

Why do you use them every day?

I have heard that Zipp is very good with thier warranty. I've always wondered about the durabilty of the braking surface on the tubulars though.

Demoed the tubulars once and now love the tubulars feel. Between mountain bike, road bike and Tri bike there just wont ever be enough $$$ for that bling.
