im looking at a shimano XT rear derailleur (traditional non rapid rise 8/9 speed compatible) but i notice that it says its GS/SGS...Does that mean I need special shifters?
I currently us ST-EF29 and really like them...i dont want to switch...can I still use these with this derailleur?

GS = long cage
SGS = Super long cage
Total capacity of the RD is more for SGS than GS. Shouldn't have anything to do with shifter compatibility.
