I’ve put about 50 miles on the bike this weekend. That’s my highest weekly mileage in about 6 months. Most of it (or so it seemed) was against the wind. At least that cooled the temp down. The bike rode just as I expected it would from my test ride. Nice, smooth feel, even on some roads that weren’t in the greatest shape. Although I busted my budget (doesn’t everyone?) I’m glad I sprung for the higher end ultegra component group. It shifts nice and smooth, and it is what I’m used to from riding my wife’s road bike.

Definitely noticed a big speed increase from my mountain bike. I started out doing some of my usual routes, but had to add on because my average speed had increased because of the bike. This was especially noticeable riding into the wind. I did 20 miles in the time it usually took me to do 15. Plus, it was an easier ride. I was definitely a lot more comfortable at the end of the ride compared to riding the 15 on my MB.

The bike is a little heavier than my wife’s AL bike. Maybe about 2 pounds. But it is still very light. Actually, it’s lighter than some of the other Al road bikes that I test rode. I doubt if I will notice extra weight. Plenty of other places for me to shave weight that will make my doctor happy.

I did swap out the seat with the one I have on my mountain bike after 1 1/2 rides. The stock Specialized body geometry seat just didn't fit my geometry.

Nice bike! Columbus tubing rocks!
Most road saddles take a while to break in/get your butt used to, but once you do I bet you'd prefer it.

Nice ride. I really like the color. I’ve been riding a black one so long; I’m starting to get envious of folks who have bright colored rides. While it’s certainly about personal preference, might I suggest you give your body a chance to adjust to the road saddle? When your rides start taking hours, you might be more comfortable on the smaller one. Just a thought

that saddle looks painful. Yikes...it'd probably chafe my legs and make them raw.

Trust me..you'll prefer the road saddle on those 4 hour rides later on

the saddle that comes one the allez is a really nice one...I went out and bought one and put it on my lemond. If you don't want your specialized BG saddle, just send it to me, I have another biek that could use a new seat. seriously. just PM, and I'll send you my address.
