Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Phila critical mass tomorrow-- any afterparties?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Does anyone know of anything going on after crit mass tomorrow? It's Rocky V eve, so there should be something, right?
I hear theres a party going on at www.phillyfixed.com ... Ask there maybe.

There's a "bro party" tomorrow night:
tomorrow
Bro-Party
1342 S Mole St
wear your best bro outfit and bring your best bro drinks.
starts around 10-ish
But the dudes over at phillyfixed are kinda tight-knit and--assuming you don't know them (I don't)--you won't fit in. I went to the scavenger hunt last weekend and a lot of the phillyfixed members were kind of bully-ish. Plus that party will hardly represent the population attending critical mass.
PM me if you want to ride around the town after CM is over tomorrow.

Let's see. You guys are planning to block streets so some folks will be late to work, maybe get fired. And, mom's trying to get to daycare before it closes will be late, and pay a $50 late fee. And, maybe some ambulance rushing someone to the hospital will arrive too late to save their life.
I'm kinda hoping that that the Philly police get a little "baton practice" and then give you guys an after-party down at the city jail. ESPECIALLY the guys who think it is funny to give a "Bro Party".

I doubt anyone's going to work at 6 PM. And too bad for ms. too-busy-to-care-for-her-own-child.
I don't think we'd be so inconsiderate as to block a emergency vehicle.
If we're running red lights I don't think 10 seconds lost in your life will do too much damage, or make you late for work or day care. And we have every right to take up both lanes, so too bad.
PMed back, Astronomical.

speaking of that, who are you guys?

servers and bartenders usually go to work at 5-6 for night shifts. holy hell, are you serious about "ms. too-busy-to-care-for-her-own-child"? i've never really thought about how critical mass rides could negatively effect the drivers in this way.

No.
But I firmly believe that our riding does not negatively impact traffic to the degree that alanbikehoustin thinks.

Although it's a bit more than 10 seconds for critical mass to cork and pass an intersection. :D
I make an effort to get to work early despite adverse traffic, they should too. And it's never people who have to go to work that yell at us.

Yo, Astro, come to Houston and block one of OUR intersections. You will WISH the police would come and take you to jail.
You jerks are the reason many motorists think that ALL cyclists are inconsiderate, rude, drugged out thugs...you are 1% of the cycling population, but the cause of 99% of the bad feelings against cyclists.
But, again, you are welcome to bring your thug tactics to Houston. Folks in Houston know how to deal with punks.
Not long ago, I saw an interview with a young woman whose car had been trapped by a mob of these guys. She couldn't move forward. She couldn't move back. When she tried to get away, they began pounding on her car, doing lots of damage...takes a real man to get together with two hundred other guys and terrorize a woman.
You "didn't know" your 'bro party was offensive? Some frat boys at Texas A & M thought it was funny to give a party where they could wear an afro wig, and swig 40 oz. bottles of malt liquor. They called it their "Pimps and Ho's Party". Their dates wore Afro wigs...their idea of looking like a 'ho.
The REAL 'bros from the A & M. football team let the frat boys know EXACTLY what would happen if there was another such party. The frat boys hid under their beds, and haven't been seen since...they are about as "brave" as the critical mass bunch. Cool to act racist until a real brother catches you at it...then its time to be a little whiny boy again.

Guess i know why no one worth mentioning would be stupid enough to live there, eh?
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...

Seriously, what's a minute or two of your time, isn't that the time you're supposed to allot to that sort of adversity? I really take offense to you calling me a thug, and I don't plan to visit or live in Houston, ever.
But who are you? What do you have to do with Philly Mass? Nothing.
Plus, what's to do about my "thug tactics" in Houston? Are they going to beat me down, run me over? use worse thug tactics?

Also when I hear cyclist hatin' it's always about the spandex wearin' pansies who account for about 75% of the aforementioned 99% of cyclists. Eh?
P.S. No offense to you bike punx who hide their spandex under their shants, I understand it's comfy.

I'm also curious as to how we "punks" should be "dealt with." Please, illuminate this point for us. What lies in store for us, should we come to visit your little town, so brimming with tolerance?
Dude's statement sounds more threatening than any other in this thread, and certainly seems unprovoked. That's thug behavior.

critical mass is BAD for cycling advocacy. there is no doubt about it. it just causes animosity between motorists and cyclists. if you want to do something for cycling join the bicycle coalition, right here in philly. they've made some huge changes.
i think critical mass would be MUCH more effective if it only took up ONE lane, and allowed traffic to continue on its merry way.

pennsylvania is hands down the best state in the country to live in.
like driving on that highway? yeah, pa turnpike was the first modern road in the country.
like that home you're living in? yeah, pennsylvania architecture helped form the american style of building.
how about your dinner last night? let me guess... some kind of meat and some kind of potato--the pennsylvania diet.
i can go on and on... but pennsylvania is without a doubt my favorite state and i bet if you knew more about it you'd feel the same way.
but you live in california, a state with a large gay population and governor arnold schwarzenegger. tough luck.
