Hey have you seen the newly redesigned Gmaps? You can now check a box to avoid highways, and drag your route to readjust it manually.

Now planning new routes to work just became easier :)

An "avoid hills" option would be a lot more useful in San Francisco than an "avoid highways" option. :)

Love google, but imho windows live is much better than google, especially in the mobile capacity.

http://bikeforums.net/images/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif (http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=314978#top)I noticed this yesterday...still prefer Gmap Pedometer though, for the ability to plan routes that don't always stay on roads. www.gmap-pedometer.com

For a quick 'n' dirty estimate of the distance from A to B, though, the new 'avoid highways' feature is great.

I use gmap pedometer too. It's so much more flexible because the user gets to create their own route on the fly just by pointing and clicking.

If I did that, I would not have any route to work.

You'll never get anywhere. :)
