I'm considering getting the Fox F100X for my Blur. I originally spec'd the Blur with the Float 100RLC, but this new "TerraLogic" interia-valve (auto lockout) technology interests me. I'm going to take delivery in about 2 weeks, so I'm looking for your thoughts.

Sooooooo ... does anyone have any experience with the F80X or the F100X? Any opinions???? ThanX!!!

i wouldnt do it. The blur is designed more as a bike that stiffens as it climbs whereas the F80X is always locked out. The bike wouldnt feel balanced

Actually, I would be getting the F100X, but the same thing applies.

What I noticed when I demo'd a blur (with the Float 100RLC) was that the rear shock did what you stated - stiffen as power was put to the pedals. I'm sure that this was due to the VPP rear suspension design.

Now when I locked out the fork, I couldn't detect any bob from the rear. However, the same could not be said when locking out the shock, and not the fork. The fork just did not have this same trait. So, I'm trying to get the same type of feeling from the front-end. However, I don't want to sacrifice the plush feeling of the bike either.

Anyone else?????

Check the comments over at MTB Reviews. (http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/2003_front_shocks/product_121968.shtml) These are F80X reviews with some F100X's mixed in.
I've been looking at getting the F80X for my hard tail. From all accounts, these new Fox Forx are outstanding.

Wow - those are some glowing reviews! I am really torn @ this point. I really loved the plush feeling of the Float, but this fork may still deliver that plush feeling, but also have the advantage of an automatic lock-out. Also, there is a dial to tune when you want the auto-lockout to engage.

Hmmmm .... any other thoughts/opinions/experience????

ThanX!!

Okay, I just pulled the trigger on the new Fox TerraLogic F100.

With any luck, my new Blur will be in a few weeks, and I'll be able to give the group a full review of this new product! :D

took my blur out yesterday and climbed about as well as a fat guy can do without having a coronary (not really fat just muscley :) ) i really focused on the pedal bob issue and now i'd like to revise my previous post i made, the bob is ALMOST non existent. i locked out the front shock and began to hammer all the while having my head turned 180 degrees and watching for any vertical movement, very little. i also sat and granny geared for a while with the same outcome very little movement. after my first ride i fiddled with the air pressure on my AVA and screwed with the rebound and now i believe i've got it pretty well dialed. this bike loves to take turns it rips throught the turns and is very nimble it also like to go fast and is very stable especially over technical/ rocky stuff. i have one complaint but it is not related to the blur but the tires. my michelin wildgrippers were a bit loose on the turns, i slid sideways 3 times on the hardpack dirt, i was able to dab to prevent a fall. maybe on my next ride i may air down abit

I'm considering the Progressive 5th Element shock in place of the AVA, but as you state, there is virtually no bob with the Fox and the VPP suspension, so I don't know that I'll be gaining much of anything. I also fear loosing the plush feeling that the AVA provides.

If the 5th Element is just a plush, I would go with it as it's a bit lighter. However, having not ridden the 5th Element, I just don't know????

ThanX for the further insight, Rockstar. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the 5th Element Air vs. the Fox AVA????

ThanX!!!!

UPDATE: Well, I've now changed the entire suspension - front and back! I've gone with the 5th Element Air for the back (replacing the Fox AVA), and the Fox F100X up front (displacing the Float 100RLC).

Time will tell if I made the right decision. I will, of course, supply the group with my impressions after a few rides. I'm currently in the "2 more weeks for delivery" mode. I can't wait!! :D
