I have no idea why people want to ride fixed gear (single speed is much better if you must stick to one speed)

1) You can't coast on fixed gear, so you are always pedaling and wasting extra energy. this sucks when the ground is flat and when going downhill.

2) You are slower than a multispeed or single speed bike (no coasting + hills will get to you)

The only things fixed gear has going for it is

1) No brakes/brake levers needed (save money)

2) Fat people, they work thier fat buttz and keep pedaling if they want to keep moving (no more coasting at 2 mph on the sidewalk for these guys anymore lol)

Oh, and it should either be "does fixed gear suck" or "is it true that fixed gear sucks". So much for the ESL classes.

You are right, fixed gears suck.

Now that we've established that, can we get a moderator to delete this forum?

Oh man, this thread has "disaster in the making" written all over it. I'll be in the cyclocross thread if anyone needs me.

(fixed gear refers to any gear that was broken, and has since been repaired. Sorry, couldn't resist the shot at really bad humor.)

I have a lot of enemies who would like to see me "out of the picture." When they try to eliminate me, their method of choice is to file the brake cables on my bicycle so that the next time I'm approaching Deadman's Curve just outside of Davis, my brakes fail and I meet a fiery end as I plummet off the edge of a 5000' cliff.

But their attempts off me are always thwarted because a fixed gear bicycle has the ability to stop without brakes. I'm safe as long as Sheldon Brown never goes over to the other side.

I thought this was the food thread . . .
hands up for Sriracha over Tapatio

"Sriracha is made from sun ripen chilies which are ground into a smooth paste along with garlic and packaged in a convenient squeeze bottle. It is excellent in soups, sauces, pastas, pizzas, hot dogs, hamburgers, chowmein or on anything else to give it a delicious, spicy taste. Like all our sauces, we use only the highest quality ingredients and never any artificial colors or flavorings."
