Pacific Northwest - From Stumptown

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I just registered at bike forums, and someone suggested that I introduce myself in the Northwest Regional forum. I hope I'm in the right place.
So yeah.
I love riding, but I'm not into any kind of competition or timing myself or anything. I have a hardtail mountain bike that is day-glo orange (my own paintjob). That's been my only bike for a while. It's okay. It's a little heavy, and since I'm kind of a Clydesdale (which I didn't even know until reading the forum title) I like the lighter bikes. So I picked a free, old Peugeot up via craigslist and it's my new project.
You know, when it comes to bikes, I don't know what's more fun, working on them or riding them. Win-win, I guess.
Oh, yeah, for all you other PDXers out there, I live in SW, just next to Tigard and LOVE riding the Fanno Creek trail.
Hi, welcome.
I need to check out that trail, thanks!
Welcome to BF and the regional forum. I'm over on the east side of tabor (officially Montavilla) and don't get over to your end of town often enough. I share your sentiments on wrenching and riding. i love seeing a sweet ride emerge from my workshop:D

Hello Jake,
Welcome to Bike Forums. Be careful with fixing up nice old bikes... they will take over if you let them. I have six rideable bikes in my living room at the moment, plus one old Fuji frame behind the couch and an old Schwinn in a storage area waiting to have the seat stays replaced. :D

Funny thing about Mt. Tabor.
I was biking from Gateway to Belmont and 39th a while back and met a very nice man on the 205 trail. He say me looking at my map (i didn't want to miss my "exit" LOL). So he asks, like the a good bike ambassador, if I need any directions, and I say where I'm going, and tell him what road I'm taking and he says "That's pretty steep." To which I reply: "I'm from SW." And he sagely nods, grins knowingly, and rides off.
I mean, I have to climb a mini Mt. Tabor just to get to a road that GOES anywhere.
I'm not bragging, I'm just jealous of all you Eastsiders ;).

Welcome.
I work in Tigard and commute from West Linn 2-3 days a week. I've never really had the time to explore the Fanno Creek Trail. Will have to do that since it comes so highly recommended.
Again welcome.
