Lately I've seen a lot of really really really short handle bars on fixed gear bikes. I think the next stage will be no handlebars at all! You'll just steer with an Oury covered stem. It'll be kind of like a rudder.

there's a guy that hangs around west town bikes in chicago that has a lowrider bike with a tractor steering wheel for handlebars(??). i think his name is AZ

I've tried riding with just a stem after a crash broke off the faceplate. It doesn't work very well...

I've seen some crazy Narrow bars. There's a guy in Providence who looks like he just cut the curved sections off his drop bars. There's just barely room for a fist and a brake lever on each side.

i have some bares that i cut from drops there nine inches long so theres enough room for the stem and the hands..
theres a guy who rolls around tempe with a baseball or a tenis ball on his stem or steerer tube...
