There’s a bike ride this Sunday for anyone out here on Oahu. We’ll be meeting at Kapiolani Park at 0815. Plan on heading out at 0830. We’ll be meeting along **** Avenue on the East side of Kapiolani Park. Look for a silver Jeep Liberty with a bike rack on the back, and a tall guy (me) with a silver Specialized Sirrus.

This isn’t a large group ride, in fact there are only two confirmed to show. It is also not a fast ride. Our average over the entire ride will likely be 12-14 mph. We plan on heading around the South side of Diamond Head, East along Kalanianaole Highway, around Koko Head via Hawaii Kai Rd, then up along the coast to Waiamanalo. How far we go depends on how we feel.

Like I said, this isn’t a hard ride. There will be breaks, and we may even stop for lunch in Kailua or Waiamanalo. But, if you feel like getting out and need someone to ride with, then we’ll see you there.

You'll be on the road at the same time as the Honolulu Century Ride. About 3000 or so people, in addition to your group.

Good luck and ride safe.

I thought the Honolulu Century Ride was in September.

We're riding July 1st. In fact, we're going to be riding in preparation for the Honolulu Century Ride, so we'll be doing more rides besides this one, slowly working our way up to the 100 miles.

But thanks, and hope to see you there.
