Commuting - My new identity
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now and then I look for ways to motivate myself. Recently the Minneapolis newspaper reported that according to the last census (2000 I suppose) 4700 people commute to work by bike in Minneapolis. It seems to me that one could argue (with a bit of stretching perhaps) that by using less oil we are cutting the supply lines of terrorists by reducing the flow of "petrodollars" to fund their operations. Therefore, by riding my bike to work I am waging a guerilla war on terrorism. I started commuting by bike heavily in the fall of 2001. My new identity, then: The 4701st Minnesota Irregulars. I am an army of one. (Oops, I guess that would be the 4701st Minnesota Irregular. Singular.)

Thats one way of looking at it. I smoked some opium when Reagan was Prez, to help the Freedom Fighters battle the Soviets in Afghanistan.

Eat lots of bran fiber and you will be more regular.;)
Thats cool that you've been commuting for so long. I'm on my 4th month of, hopefully, many years of bike commuting to come. But the best way to fight terrorism is by making the majority of our imports not from other countries.
