Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm new to road biking and am looking for some good bike routes thru the country roads. Anyone have any good links or google maps? I would prefer routes closer to Cambridge if at all possible however I would be interested in any good routes within a 50 km radius.
I plan on attending some of the rides put on by my LBS however it will be a few weeks before my schedule opens up to ride with them on Sunday mornings. Until then I'm on my own trying to figure out some good routes. I tried some of the roads between Puslinch and Guelph on a Sunday, which was great, however on the weekdays it's too busy with truck traffic.

Check Bikely (http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/srchkey/cambridge/country/43)
I saw a cyclist returning along Cedar Creek when I went through there last year. I think it was a Friday on a long weekend though, so I am not sure of the normal amount of traffic (and we came up highway 8 before turning onto Main/Cedar Creek)

See if you can get a map of the Cambridge Tour de Grand, they had some awesome roads for us to ride on :)

I live in Waterloo and there are great roads in our region to ride your bike on...some not so great. Advermap has excellent maps with bike routes for the area. www.advermap.com (http://www.advermap.com) Riding south towards Paris and Brantford is nice and south west towards Drumbo. I know you can get these maps at Ziggy's Cycle in Kitchener and maybe at your LBS. I find them to be invaluable until you get a knowledge of the good roads and bad. One of my favourite roads in the area is Chiligo Rd. It doesn't really go anywhere and it isn't that long...but it is a great place to pedal...and I love the name.

thanks for the suggestions guys. The Bikely link had a couple of routes I'll have to try. It even had the Tour de Grand route.
