A 20 something coworker was talking about commuting 10 miles to work but needed a road bike. I acquired a MTB from freecycle, cleaned it up, and sold it for funds. That paid for this Lotus touring bike. With a few extra parts (Suntour RD and power shifters, some cable) and a lot of cleaning it's a beauty. The Lotus is
an interesting make. Columbus tubing, 26 lbs with rack, 7 speed Sachs freewheel and chain; chrome fork tips and stays. Super low front granny ring - 24 teeth; 30 tooth first gear. It had SPDs but I swapped for Looks because he bought Look only road shoes.
Of course, I'll take it on a shakedown commute in on Monday.
