It's a lot faster than I've managed. My best was set yesterday (40.8). I've got to find a steeper hill.

yeah i could hear the tires make a whizzzz noise. Some new tires might be a thing to think about.

48yo, and 79km/h on Saturday on my randon bike. I chickened just before 80km/h because I knew there was a sweeping left-hander right before a T-junction up front... not a major problem, except I know the corner has always got a layer of fines washed across by rain and cars cutting the apex of the corner. Very dicey at that sort of speed.

I've still to break 80km/h barrier, and it will happen one day. I'm not overly anxious to set this PB.

Mine was 84km/h a couple of years ago on the 22% descent of Trees Road. However, I generally prefer riding up that one. For one thing, when I'm riding up the hill, I generally don't have to brake for that sharp right hand corner at the bottom. That was a brain explosion and a half!

I'm curious. How fast do you go when climbing it?

If I can break 12km/h on that climb I'm happy. It's 1.2km long, so I have to pace myself a little.

fastest sustained rate on flat was about 35-38 for a mile or two until my legs gave out, on my hardrock. shortly after that my computer met its demise as it fell off of the cradle and was pancaked by the car behind me.
however, i bet ive been over 40 down several hills (streets) on my mtb's

Tallahassee, FL has some awesome hills, easy 50 mph.

Let's see, that would be about 7.5 mph. Just comparing to my longest hill (not the steepest). I'm guessing that it is about a 6-7% and my pacing only lets me go about 5.3 mph avergage.

Back in the days when I had a mechanical odometre, I must have descended a few long steep ones at 60-80 km/h. Now that I'm a bit older (44) and, I think, wiser, I rarely descend above 40-50 km/h. Too many cracks, bumps, driveways, etc. to watch for around here...

Uphill frequently down to about 6mph (or sometimes 3 when I give up and push), downhill I've hit 40mph.

The fastest I've been is 35 mph. I've only been riding a few weeks, so I think if I hit 50 I might go into cardiac arrest right there on the bike.

Sounds like fun. :)
