Mountain Biking - Now THIS is a ride!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yep, got a new bike today. I was having problems with my Hardrock Pro, so the LBS let me return it for a new bike.
MAN OH MAN!!!
What a difference. The 4900 is SO much nicer. I actually like the V-brakes much better than the disc brakes. This bike seems lighter and faster, and the ride is much smoother than the HR Pro.
I am loving this bike. :)

You've got to get rid of those winkies before you can call it a real mountain bike!
Just kidding - looks great...

It's a Topeak Road Morph. $25 I think. Will work with Schrader or Presta valves.

And on top of all of that - it's a great looking scoot. Many congrats on the new ride!

And the plastic spoke protector on the rear wheel.
That is a nice looking bike though.

Stop! ;) I'm not doing anything else. After removing the reflectors and upgrading the brakes.
Are those zip ties on the right arm of the fork?

Probably for the computer!!
I'd prefer black ones, but then again I don't ride with a computer on my mtn bike! Cordless on my roadie!

There is one zip tie on the right fork for the computer. I got white because the shop was out of little black ones.
I may be mistaken but the more XC geometry of the new bike may be a contributing factor to your new found speed.

The only other thing that bike needs is a rider!
Now, go get it muddy!

what's a winkie?
How much does your bike weigh?
I test rode a Hardrock Pro, & I thought the front shifting was slow. I just got a 2003 Diamondback Topanga Comp Disc ($475), but it weighs 31 lbs. I've been told I can shave some weight by swapping out the fork (~5 lbs)

Not sure. But I can say without hesitation that it is lighter than the Hardrock Pro, because that is the bike I owned for two weeks and subsequently returned in exchange for the Trek.
