View Full Version : Neiled, err, nailed a metric century today

The Neils on Wheels Bike Touring Team (me and Neil Fein) today completed a metric century in Delaware. The White Clay Bicycle Club's Delaware Double-cross led cyclists on a 32 mile ride crossing from the Delaware River to the Maryland border and back again, and gluttons for punishment could ride a second loop bringing the mileage up to 65. NOWBTT completed 69 miles in 5 hours 45 minutes - the map mileage seems a tad short, and my figures include riding at rest stops, warm-up loops beforehand, etc. Also riding in the metric was Bike Forum's "freemti", who finished at least an hour ahead of NOWBTT.

Jeez
Way to wind me up with no place to go Neil.
I just got home from my second job as weekend carpenter, put all my tools away filed the paperwork and thought I would just relax for a few and check out the Clydes. Then I read about your terrific performance today look over at the "new girl" and think to myself, well I could just ride a quick two or three miles before I hit the sack. Then I realize that I have no headlamp and it is pitch black out there DOH!

Wait a sec... Weren't you just worried about a 39 mile ride? Now you're piling on the miles like it was nothing. :-P Good work to the NOWBTT!

Thanks. Neil F. has photos showing how 'wiped' I look at the end. Perhaps he'll post them.

Anyone who works two jobs, particularly one of them as demanding as carpentry, doesn't need to feel 'wound up' by anyone, least of all me. Build yourself a headlamp and ride! :-)

Here is the brave trio of Bike Forum riders, "freemti" bracketed by Neils, after the metric. Since 'Neils' is a plural, I am forming the s at the end! :-)
