Introductions - hi all

This is Jennifer, newly de-lurked, and looking for another bike. I'm a long-time commuter and pleasure-rider, don't own a car. I'm from the Vancouver area, and rode up to SFU on Burnaby Mountain for 7 years, but for the last 3 years I've had a 20 min ride to work. I've been riding a pink and white Crescent with a basket. Really heavy and girly. Last month we finally bought a house (yay!) and moved to New West, and my commute is now 25 km or 1.5 hours each way. It is sheer unadulterated bliss at the end of the day, and my little cruiser can do it, but doesn't exactly fly the way my old Trek 1500 used to. Now I'm looking—like everyone else in Vancouver, it seems—for an old 10 speed.

At this point I think my login name will pop up on threads asking for advice about Apollos, Peugeots and Bianchi's, which we seem to have a lot of out here.

I'm definitely in the right place; you all demonstrate an astonishing amount of knowledge and experience, and I'm looking forward to the details and ideas and fun.

:)

Hello Jennifer, I thought I recognised the username. Don't worry, we'll do our best to find you a great bike.

Check out the regional forums, as there are quite a few Vancouverites here.

Welcome to BF!

Remember, pink is not intrinsically bad--it's the glittery STREAMERS (not the 1950s type streamers--those are classics), Barbie decals, and white tyres that are 'girly' and vomit-provoking! Especially Barbie decal stuff :( .

Hmm .. you sound pretty familiar with that swirly girly stuff. :)

I had a purple sparkly banana seat bike when I was about 10, I think it was my second bike. Ah, my first love, some of my best times have been had by myself on bikes.

What I want now is an 80s road bike, but no red or black or silver, could do blue or green or yellow or oran ge. I'm going to post something and ask (again) for advice.

2 bellinis and I'm a chatterbox. :)

C & V is the place to ask questions! How about pink?
